Ali Asad’s passion for cinema came to him at an early age. He describes his childhood experience of sitting on the floor of his local cinema watching movies on a big screen as ‘pure magic’.
Trained in fine art at Goldsmiths college where he began using moving image as a medium. He started his film career in music videos, commercials, dramas and feature films. Ali won best cinematography at the Toronto film festival 2011 for his work on the feature A LONELY PLACE TO DIE. His recent work on Dr Who series 9 episodes 1 & 2 was reviewed as probably the best looking the show has ever had. Soon to be released Mad To Be Normal. The story of the psychiatrist R D Laing with David Tenant, Michael Gambon, Elizabeth Moss and Gabriel Byrne. Currently working on a project about James Joyce.
